Google launched a latest feature in Gmail today, which is entitled for alerting users, when the system detects some suspicious activity, which might give indication about something phishy with the account. Gmail already gives the information at the bottom of the in box, showing the time of last activity on the account and whether it can be opened in other location or not, but people hardly bother to check that information. It is an extra initiative taken by Google for displaying a warning to users in the form of a big banner kind of sign, which says ‘warning, your acct was accessed from----‘ and it specifies the geographic location, where the account was accessed and unusual activity was detected. Taking an example, if you log in from a same country and suddenly, there is a logging from some other part of world, which is suspicious; or the system detects that one IP is accessing many accounts and changing passwords for them, the warning will be triggered for the account owners. The warning banner will have the option of ‘Details’ link for getting more information about the last access points. The users can change their passwords from that window, for an advanced security.
