WordPress 3.0 Released, Adding Multi-User and Streamlined User Interface

More than 200 contributors did work for 6 consecutive months to conclude the launching of Wordpress 3.0 version. It is done for 13th major releasing of popular CMS and blogging platform.

According to the announcement made on Thursday, the new features included a default theme named as ‘Twenty Ten’ and the new Application Programming Interfaces, which make the theme developers to implement the custom backgrounds, shortlink menus, headers, taxonomies and post types. Wordpress has also integrated multi user functionality by letting the developers and network administrators for working for 10 million blogs for similar installation. The user interface is also streamlined and provides content assistance on every screen and also provides bulk updation capabilities.

In accordance to the pre review of Computer World of Wordpress, the new version bounds the other features while getting the user friendliness taking WordPress away from Open source alternatives Joomla and Drupal. The review makes note on WordPress theme customization and opportunities for dynamic widgets and the ability for creation of customized menus. In the blog posting, Automattic founder Matt Mullenweg interestingly noted that work would not begin on WordPress 3.1, but the company will take some time to focus on things other than Automattic’s core product.

Over the next 3 months, there will be splitting over the teams focused on different areas. It includes showcase, Codex, profiles, update, compatibility over APIs, plugin directory, theme directory, core plugins.
