Netbooks a Threat to Notebooks Among Businesses

6/24/2010 5:35:14 AM

IT departments are more open to the substitution of the computing form factors for one another than the consumers itself. About half of IT buyers are open to some kind of substitution of their company’s notebook fleet over the net purchase cycle and the most common reason is to purchase netbooks (33%). Only 1 percent of consumer notebook users will switch over to a netbook and about 13 percent to a tablet.

Netbooks entered the market with the consumer hat on and now are reviewing more opportunity for netbooks to gain market share in B2B market. Tablets similar to iPad will cut into the consumer share of netbook sales and there is notice made for the IT departments for ongoing B2B purchase of netbook.

IT departments are interested in Netbooks, which are driven by low price points and it is managed by the improved mobility of the form factor. When mobility is made, many employees are made with smartphones and the device is formed from the factor having reduced likelihood of getting replacement with anything else for most common business applications like IM, email, calendaring, web surfing and all the events of immediate future.
