Apple iPhone 4 flies off the shelf on first day of sales

6/25/2010 8:39:05 AM

There were ample of customers lined on Thursday at Apple Stores for getting iPhone 4. By the end of day, the latest iPhone was sold across many places in US, inclusive of San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles, Portland, Ore., Miami, Charlotte and Indianpolis. The whole stock of Best Buy was sold out, RadioShack hoped to sale the stock till weekend, Wal-Mart had brisky sales and more number of phones is in demand.

Apple's private wireless partner, AT&T, would not sell the phone to walk-in customers until Tuesday. The spokesperson would not say that how quick stores would get reloaded. The demand for iPhone 4 is not in the charts. They are working hard for getting them to quickly amongst people. It will get about one month for getting the full stock for stores.

To make shopping experience a little tough, Apple and AT&T began to take reservations for iPhone on June 15. They get such a nice response that by the end of the day they began taking orders for the pickup on June 24. The website of the company now promises a delivery by July 14. Apple sold 600K early orders and there is a prediction of sale of 1-1.5 million. The new iPhone costs begin at $199 with a 2 year contract or renewal.

This launch has called the biggest way for consumer tech device. AT&T made relaxation to the qualifying rules for upgrades. iPhone customers have current latest trends and it was a great timing for an upgrade. The analyst Munster said that Apple should have staggered the pickup time over several days. It is physically not possible for engaging more people into the stores but putting the people with confirmed reservations online for about 6 hours is just a bad form.
