IBM Poland announced this week it will partner with the Wrocław University of Technology to develop Poland's first multipurpose cloud computing center, according to a report by Polish Market Online. The university will launch a new research program offering courses for over 1,500 students. "The center is to develop new educational programs using existing and nascent technologies which will allow Polish students to compete on the global labour market," Paweł Panecki, director of software department at IBM Polska told wnp.pl. Over the years IBM has been growing its presence in Wrocław. The tech giant signed a deal with the Polish government last year to develop the IBM IT Service Delivery Center. IBM is also working with the EIT+ Research Centre on researching, particularly in the areas of nano and biotechnology, and intelligent systems. Earlier this month, IBM announced it opened its new IBM Cloud Computing Competence Center in Ehningen, Germany. Since opening its first European Cloud Computing Center in Dublin back in March 2008, IBM has opened several more centers around the world, including in Sao Paulo, Bangalore, Seoul, Hanoi, Toyko, Johannesburg, and Beijing. |
